Robert's Letter

Dear Roger;

   Over the last number of years I have always been pleased with the results of the various fine art cleaning and restoration projects that you have completed for me.

Just recently you finished another project on an antique oil painting depicting a portrait of a Negro boy by the early Canadian artist John Bell-Smith. I thought that I would take a moment to say that I believe you did a superb job of turning one very dirty and damaged non-descript picture into a marvelous looking gem. What a wonderful difference your patient and careful cleaning and repair work made with this now beautiful portrait!

Thank you for a job extraordinarily well done.

Yours sincerely, Robert C. Britnell B.A.

Martha's Letter

 Several months ago, I experienced an art "disaster". A highly cherished family heirloom, a historic oil painting, had come into my possession and I had proudly hung it in my home. A week or two later, imagine my shock when one morning, the painting simply fell off the wall, caught several objects on the bookcase immediately below it (which caused significant ripping and tearing of the canvas) and landed on the floor. Eventually we figured that the painting had been resting on the nail rather than the hook of the picture hanger which could not support it. The painting, in addition to the rips and tears, also had water spilled over it from a flower vase that had been knocked over on the bookcase.

   I was heartbroken over this event, not because a valuable object looked to be hopelessly damaged but that an item of immense sentimental importance to me appeared to be utterly ruined.

   After searching frantically for someone in the Muskoka area who might be able to assess and possibly repair the painting, friends of my parents recommended that we contact Roger Pearce. Not only did they say that he was highly skilled at painting restoration but that he didn't charge "Toronto prices". We did indeed contact Roger and he came over to my home to have a look at the painting. When he saw it, he admitted it was the worst damage to a piece of art that he'd ever seen. He told us he would do his best and that was good enough for us.

   Well seeing the damaged painting was one shock but my parents and I received another one when we saw the finished product that Roger returned to me. Quite simply, he had worked magic on the painting. It was absolutely amazing what he had accomplished. Unless you were aware of the initial damage it would be difficult to identify the areas that were touched up and the canvas repaired.

   To say I am thrilled with the results is an understatement. I would not hesitate to recommended Roger as a true "painting doctor". He certainly provided the cure for my injured painting!

   sincerely, Martha Hope

    The painting looks wonderful....restored as though it had never happened. I actually looked at your site already as I was describing your work and singing your praises to one of my co-workers. I was happy to see our painting displayed there.... my friend was most impressed!
Thanks again for your help.

Bill and Ursula Brereton

Dear Roger ;
   Thank you so much for the wonderful work you did restoring the painting I brought in. It is amazing how well you were able to repair that rather large rip and fill in the broken up corner. The cleaning and re-varnishing brought out the true colours again and also make the canvas look smoother. The painting looks beautiful on our living room wall! Thank you so very much. We certainly will recommend you to whom ever we can.

                                                                                     Sincerely, Bill and Ursula Brereton.
